[651] Having come out from the tunnel, Vedeha boarded the ship; and knowing that he had embarked, Mahosadha instructed him: "This, sire, is your father-in-law; this, O lord of the people, is your mother-in-law. As is the dutiful conduct rendered to a mother, so let yours be toward your mother-in-law. Just as one's own true brother, born of the same womb, of one and the same mother, so should Pañcālacanda be held dear by you, O bull among charioteers. #1 Burmese ed. (M.): sambādhapakkhandaṃ. This Pañcālacandī, the royal princess whom you have longed for¹ — take your pleasure with her; she is your wife, O bull among charioteers."
