[682] [Countering] design (attha) with design, O Vedeha, and counsel (manta) with counsel, O warrior-ruler (khattiya), I encompassed the king, as the ocean encircles Jambudīpa. A thousand nikkhas of gold were given to me, and eighty villages in the Kāsi country; four hundred slave-women were given, and a hundred wives were given to me; and taking all the divisions of the army, I have arrived here in safety.
