"To Kosiya, the forest-dwelling seer (isi)
who long had practiced austerity,
the supaṇṇa declared
the unsurpassed poison-lore (visavijjā).
Him — one among those of developed self,
as he dwelt in the midst of the mountains —
I attended upon with respect,
unwearied by night and by day.
Then he, having been served by me
with observance (vatta) and with holy living (brahmacariya),
that fortunate one (bhagavā), of his own free will,
revealed to me the divine spell (manta).
Relying firmly upon those spells,
I fear no serpent (bhogī);
I am the teacher of the destroyers of poison —
as 'Ālambāyana' men know me."
