[788] "My son, do not believe that — that, as they say, a good destination (sugati) comes about through the sacrifice of sons:
that is the road to the hells (niraya); that indeed is not the road to the heavens (sagga).
Give gifts (dāna), Koṇḍañña; [practice] harmlessness (ahiṃsā) toward all beings, those that are and those yet to be:
this is the path to a good destination; the path is not through the sacrifice of sons."
