[792] Do not believe that, my son — that, so it is said,
a good destination (sugati) comes about through the sacrifice of a son (puttayañña);
that is the path to hell (niraya),
for that indeed is not the path to the heavens (sagga).
Give gifts (dāna), Koṇḍañña;
let there be harmlessness (ahiṃsā) toward all beings, both those that have come to be and those yet to be —
this is the path to a good destination,
and the path is not through the sacrifice of a son.
