[988] "If you have heard of the yakkha named Puṇṇaka — he is indeed the minister (sajīva) of King Kuvera. There is a nāga named Varuṇa, an upholder of the earth, great, pure, endowed with beauty and strength. I desire his daughter, born of him, the nāga maiden named Irandatī; for the sake of that dear one of lovely waist I have set out to slay you, O wise one."
