[323] **"What indeed is this thing, full of urine and excrement? I would not wish to touch it even with my foot"** — What indeed is this body — full of urine, full of excrement, full of phlegm, full of blood, a framework of bones bound together with sinews, plastered over with blood and flesh, sheathed in hide, concealed by the outer skin, riddled with orifices small and large, oozing and trickling, inhabited by hosts of worms, filled full of manifold filth and impurity? I would not wish even to tread upon it with my foot — how much less, then, cohabitation or union with it? Hence: "What indeed is this thing, full of urine and excrement? I would not wish to touch it even with my foot."
Therefore the Blessed One said:
"Having seen Taṇhā, Aratī, and Rāgā,
there was no desire (chanda) even for sexual intercourse.
What indeed is this thing, full of urine and excrement?
I would not wish to touch it even with my foot."
