[343] "Nor by absence of view (diṭṭhi), by absence of learning, by absence of knowledge (ñāṇa), by absence of virtue, by absence of vows — nor by that": you speak thus: "view, too, is to be desired"; you speak thus: "learning, too, is to be desired"; you speak thus: "knowledge, too, is to be desired"; you speak thus: "virtue, too, is to be desired"; you speak thus: "a vow, too, is to be desired." You are not able to affirm one-sidedly; you are not able to reject one-sidedly. Therefore: "Nor by absence of view, by absence of learning, by absence of knowledge, by absence of virtue, by absence of vows — nor by that."
