[418] **He for whom there is no state of dependence (nissayatā):** "He for whom" — the Arahant whose taints (āsava) are destroyed. **Dependences (nissaya):** there are two dependences — the dependence of craving (taṇhā) and the dependence of view (diṭṭhi) … This is the dependence of craving … This is the dependence of view. For him the dependence of craving has been abandoned, the dependence of view has been relinquished. Because the dependence of craving has been abandoned and the dependence of view has been relinquished, the state of dependence does not exist for him, is not found, is not apprehended; it has been abandoned, cut off, stilled, calmed, rendered incapable of arising again, burnt by the fire of knowledge (ñāṇa). Hence, "he for whom there is no state of dependence."
