[581] **No one among ascetics is a fool** — among ascetics (samaṇesu) no one is a fool, inferior, low, lesser, base, mean, or petty; all of them alike are of foremost wisdom, of most excellent wisdom, of distinguished wisdom, of preeminent wisdom, of supreme wisdom, of superb wisdom. Hence, "no one among ascetics is a fool."
Therefore the Blessed One said:
For if by another's word one becomes inferior,
then together with that one, one becomes of inferior wisdom;
or else, if one is oneself an attainer of knowledge (vedagū), a wise one (dhīra),
then no one among ascetics is a fool.
