[674] **"For the skilled do not say that purity comes thereby"** — **"The skilled"**: those who are skilled in the aggregates (khandha), skilled in the elements (dhātu), skilled in the sense bases (āyatana), skilled in dependent origination (paṭiccasamuppāda), skilled in the establishments of mindfulness (satipaṭṭhāna), skilled in the right strivings (sammappadhāna), skilled in the bases of spiritual power (iddhipāda), skilled in the faculties (indriya), skilled in the powers (bala), skilled in the factors of awakening (bojjhaṅga), skilled in the path, skilled in fruition (phala), skilled in Nibbāna — those skilled ones do not say, do not speak, do not utter, do not explain, do not declare that by the seeing of name-and-form (nāmarūpa) — whether by the knowledge (ñāṇa) of others' minds, or by the knowledge of recollection of past abodes, or by the fleshly eye, or by the divine eye — there is purity, complete purity, full purity; release, complete release, full release. Hence, "for the skilled do not say that purity comes thereby." Therefore the Blessed One said:
"Seeing, a person sees name-and-form;
and having seen, he will know just those.
Let him indeed see much or little —
for the skilled do not say that purity comes thereby."
