[682] **"Not a follower of views, nor bound through knowledge (na diṭṭhisārī napi ñāṇabandhu)"**: for him the sixty-two speculative views (diṭṭhigata) have been abandoned, cut off, stilled, calmed, rendered incapable of arising again, burned by the fire of knowledge (ñāṇa). He is not led along by view, not led forth, not carried away, not swept along; nor does he return to that speculative view as the essence, nor come back to it — thus he is "not a follower of views." **"Nor bound through knowledge"**: whether through the knowledge of the eight attainments (samāpatti), or through the knowledge of the five superknowledges (abhiññā), or through wrong knowledge (micchāñāṇa), he does not make a bond of craving (taṇhā) or a bond of view, does not generate it, does not engender it, does not produce it, does not bring it forth — thus he is "not a follower of views, nor bound through knowledge."
