[743] **Having gained** in the phrase **having gained, one should not make a store**: having gained, having obtained, having attained, having found, having acquired — not by scheming (kuhanā), not by cajoling talk (lapanā), not by hinting (nemittikatā), not by belittling (nippesikatā), not by pursuing gain with gain; not by a gift of timber, not by a gift of bamboo, not by a gift of leaves, not by a gift of flowers, not by a gift of fruits, not by a gift of bathing requisites, not by a gift of powder, not by a gift of clay, not by a gift of tooth-wood, not by a gift of mouth-rinsing water; not by flattery (pātukamyatā), not by "bean-soup" talk (muggasūpatā — speech partly true and partly false), not by dandling (children of families) (pāribhaṭyatā), not by seat-rubbing (over-familiarity in households) (pīṭhamaddikatā); not by the science of building-sites, not by the low arts (tiracchānavijjā), not by the science of bodily marks, not by astrology; not by going as a messenger, not by going on errands, not by carrying messages on foot; not by medical practice, not by construction work, not by giving almsfood in return for almsfood, not by giving and giving in return — but having gained, obtained, attained, found, and acquired righteously and fairly (dhammena samena): thus, **having gained**.
**One should not make a store**: one should not make a store of food, a store of drink, a store of clothing, a store of vehicles, a store of bedding, a store of scents, a store of material things (āmisa); one should not make it, should not generate it, should not cause it to arise, should not produce it, should not bring it into being: thus, **having gained, one should not make a store**.
