[867] "He does not sorrow, [thinking,] 'This does not exist for me'" means: he does not sorrow over an object that has changed, nor does he sorrow when the object has changed. He does not sorrow, [thinking,] "My eye has changed"; "My ear…" … He does not sorrow, is not distressed, does not lament, does not beat his breast and wail, does not fall into confusion, [thinking,] "My blood relations have changed." Thus, "he does not sorrow, [thinking,] 'This does not exist for me.'" Therefore the Blessed One said:
He for whom there exists no possession (kiñcanaṃ)
[regarded] as "this is mine," or even as belonging to others —
he, not finding any sense of "mine" (mamattaṃ),
does not sorrow, [thinking,] "This does not exist for me."
