[912] **"Going to a direction never gone before"** (gacchato agataṃ disaṃ): the Deathless (amata), Nibbāna, is called the direction never gone before — that is, the stilling of all formations (sabbasaṅkhārasamatha), the relinquishment of all acquisitions (sabbūpadhipaṭinissagga), the destruction of craving (taṇhā), dispassion (virāga), cessation, Nibbāna. **"Never gone before"**: that direction has not been gone to before in this long stretch of time.
Just as one would carry a bowl of oil filled level to the brim, without spilling any remainder, even so, aspiring to the direction never gone before, one should constantly guard one's own mind.
Going, proceeding, advancing to the direction never gone before — thus, "going to a direction never gone before."
