[914] **In a remote lodging** (pantamhi sayanāsane): in a lodging (senāsana) at the end, remote, at the outermost limit — at the edge of a rocky crag, or at the edge of a forest, or at the edge of the water, or at the edge of a river — where there is no ploughing and no sowing; a lodging beyond the haunts of people, not within the vicinity of human beings. Hence, "in a remote lodging." Therefore the Elder Sāriputta said:
How many perils (parissaya) are there in the world for one going to a direction not gone before — perils which a bhikkhu must overcome in a remote lodging?
