Suttapiṭaka · Khuddakanikāya · Mahāniddesa · Vol. 29 · Section 921

[921] **"What training has he undertaken?"** (kaṃ so sikkhaṃ samādāya): what training has he taken up, undertaken — having taken it up, grasped it, taken hold of it, adhered to it? — thus, "What training has he undertaken?" **"Unified (ekodi), prudent, mindful"**: **Unified**: one whose mind (citta) is one-pointed, whose mind is undistracted, whose mind is unscattered¹ — thus, "unified." **Prudent** (nipako): prudent, a wise man, possessed of wisdom, intelligent, endowed with knowledge (ñāṇa), discerning, sagacious. **Mindful** (sato): he is mindful for four reasons: developing the establishment of mindfulness (satipaṭṭhāna) of contemplating the body in the body, he is mindful; … in feelings (vedanā), … in the mind, developing the establishment of mindfulness of contemplating dhammas in dhammas, he is mindful. He is called mindful. By **"What training has he undertaken?"** he asks about the training in higher morality (adhisīlasikkhā). By **"unified"** he asks about the training in higher mentality (adhicittasikkhā). By **"prudent"** he asks about the training in higher wisdom (adhipaññāsikkhā). By **"mindful"** he asks about the purity of mindfulness (satipārisuddhi). Thus: "What training has he undertaken — unified, prudent, mindful?" ¹ In the Po. and M. editions, the word "iti" does not occur.
