[966] **He, guarded in regard to these, would wander restrained in the village.** *He, guarded in regard to these*: he is guarded, protected, watched over, restrained in regard to robes (cīvara), almsfood (piṇḍapāta), lodging (senāsana), and medicinal requisites for the sick (gilānapaccayabhesajjaparikkhāra) — thus too *he is guarded in regard to these*. Or else: he is guarded, protected, watched over, restrained in regard to the sense bases (āyatana) — thus too *he is guarded in regard to these*. *Would wander restrained in the village*: in the village he is restrained, controlled, well controlled, guarded, protected, watched over, restrained — therefore, *he, guarded in regard to these, would wander restrained in the village*.
