[984] **One should remove desire in these dhammas**: "in these" means in forms, sounds, odors, tastes, and tangibles. **Desire (chanda)**: whatever there is, regarding sensual pleasures, of sensual desire, sensual lust, sensual delight, craving for sensual pleasures, sensual affection, sensual fever, sensual infatuation, sensual engrossment, the flood (ogha) of sensuality, the yoke (yoga) of sensuality, clinging to sensuality, and the hindrance (nīvaraṇa) of sensual desire. **One should remove desire in these dhammas**: one should remove, dispel, abandon, banish, eliminate, and bring to non-existence desire in these dhammas — hence, "one should remove desire in these dhammas."
