Vinayapiṭaka · Bhikkhunī Vibhaṅga · Vol. 3 · Section 499

[499] Now at that time, bhikkhunīs who were sick were troubled by scruples about defecating, urinating, or spitting in water. They informed the Blessed One of this matter. "Bhikkhus, I allow a sick bhikkhunī to defecate, urinate, or spit in water. And thus, bhikkhus, let the bhikkhunīs recite this training rule: 'I shall not, when not sick, defecate, urinate, or spit in water' — thus is the training to be observed."
