[333] **"O muni … the destruction of craving (taṇhānigghātanaṃ muni)"**: "Craving (taṇhā)" means craving for forms (rūpataṇhā), craving for sounds, craving for odours, craving for tastes, craving for tangibles, and craving for dhammas.
"The destruction of craving" means: the striking down of craving, the abandonment of craving, the calming of craving, the relinquishment of craving, the tranquilizing of craving — the Deathless (amata), Nibbāna.
"Muni": it is knowledge (ñāṇa) that is called sagacity (mona) … having gone beyond attachment and the net, he is a muni. Hence: "O muni … the destruction of craving."
