[466] **Consciousness ceases**: consciousness (viññāṇa) accompanied by meritorious formations (puññābhisaṅkhāra), consciousness accompanied by demeritorious formations (apuññābhisaṅkhāra), and consciousness accompanied by imperturbable formations (āneñjābhisaṅkhāra) ceases, is stilled, comes to an end, is tranquilized — thus, "consciousness ceases." Therefore the Blessed One said:
For one who does not delight in feeling (vedanā), internally and externally,
Wandering mindful in this way, consciousness ceases.
Together with the conclusion of the verse … "The Blessed One, venerable sir, is my Teacher; I am his disciple."
