[498] **Of Gotama the renowned (Gotamassa yasassino):** the Blessed One has attained renown (yasappatto); therefore he is renowned (yasassī). Or else: the Blessed One is honored, respected, esteemed, venerated, and held in reverence; he is a gainer (lābhī) of robes, almsfood, lodging, and medicinal requisites for the sick. Thus, "of Gotama the renowned." Therefore that brahmin said: This world, the world beyond, the Brahma world together with its devas, does not know the view that is yours — of Gotama the renowned.
