[512] **"I am old, feeble, gone from beauty" (jiṇṇohamasmi abalo vivaṇṇo):** I am old, aged, elderly, far gone in years, arrived at the last stage of life, one hundred and twenty years from birth.
**"Feeble" (abalo):** weak, of little strength, of little vigor.
**"Gone from beauty" (vivaṇṇo):** departed from beauty, bereft of beauty; that former lovely radiance of complexion has vanished; the danger (ādīnava) has become manifest. Hence: "I am old, feeble, gone from beauty."
**"So said the venerable Piṅgiya" (iccāyasmā Piṅgiyo):** "Icca" is a junction of words (padasandhi). "Āyasmā" is a term of affection. "Piṅgiya" is that brahmin's name … expression. Hence: "so said the venerable Piṅgiya."
