[647] *"You will go, Piṅgiya, to the far shore of the domain of death (maccudheyya)"* — Defilements (kilesa), aggregates (khandha), and volitional formations (abhisaṅkhārā) are called the domain of death. The far shore of the domain of death is called the deathless (amata), Nibbāna — that is, the stilling of all formations, the relinquishment of all acquisitions (upadhi), the destruction of craving (taṇhā), dispassion, cessation, Nibbāna. *"You will go, Piṅgiya, to the far shore of the domain of death"*: you will go to the far shore, you will attain it, you will touch it, you will realize it — thus, "You will go, Piṅgiya, to the far shore of the domain of death." Therefore the Blessed One said:
Just as Vakkali was one of released faith,
and Bhadrāvudha, and Āḷavi-Gotama,
even so, you too must release your faith;
you will go, Piṅgiya, to the far shore of the domain of death.
