Suttapiṭaka · Khuddakanikāya · Cūḷaniddesa · Vol. 30 · Section 659

[659] **Immovable, imperturbable (asaṃhiraṃ asaṅkuppaṃ):** "The immovable (asaṃhira)" is said of the deathless (amata), Nibbāna — that which is the stilling of all volitional formations, the relinquishment of all acquisitions (upadhi), the destruction of craving (taṇhā), dispassion, cessation, Nibbāna. "The immovable": it cannot be carried away by lust (rāga), by hatred (dosa), by delusion (moha), by anger (kodha), by resentment (upanāha), by denigration (makkha), by domineering (paḷāsa), by envy (issā), by avarice (macchariya), by deceit (māyā), by hypocrisy (sāṭheyya), by obstinacy (thambha), by presumption (sārambha), by conceit (māna), by arrogance (atimāna), by vanity (mada), by heedlessness (pamāda), by all defilements (kilesa), by all misconduct (duccarita), by all fevers (pariḷāha), by all torments (santāpa), by all unwholesome volitional formations (akusalābhisaṅkhāra); it is permanent, stable, everlasting, not subject to change — thus "the immovable." "The imperturbable (asaṅkuppa)": "the imperturbable" is said of the deathless, Nibbāna — that which is the stilling of all volitional formations, the relinquishment of all acquisitions, the destruction of craving, dispassion, cessation, Nibbāna. That whose arising is discerned and of which there is no passing away — of that, assuredly, it is discerned that Nibbāna is permanent, stable, everlasting, not subject to change — thus "immovable, imperturbable."
