[671] **"Seeing the danger born of affection" (ādīnavaṃ snehajaṃ pekkhamāno):** "Affection" (sneha) — there are two affections: affection through craving (taṇhā, taṇhā-sneha) and affection through view (diṭṭhi-sneha) … this is affection through craving … this is affection through view.
"Seeing the danger born of affection" means: seeing, beholding, contemplating, and examining the danger (ādīnava) in affection through craving and in affection through view — thus, "seeing the danger born of affection, one should wander alone like a rhinoceros horn." Therefore that Paccekasambuddha said:
For one in whom association has arisen, affections come to be;
following upon affection, this suffering (dukkha) comes forth.
Seeing the danger born of affection,
one should wander alone like a rhinoceros horn.
