[681] **"A wise man (viññū naro), seeing freedom (seritaṃ), looking on"** — *viññū* (wise): one who is wise, learned (paṇḍita), possessed of wisdom, intelligent, endowed with knowledge (ñāṇa), discerning, sagacious.
*Naro* (man): a being (satta), a young man (mānava), a person (posa), an individual (puggala), a living being (jīva), one born (jātu), a creature (jantu), an *indagū*, a human (manuja).
*Serī* (free): there are two that are *serī* — a dhamma that is *serī*, and a person that is *serī*.
Which dhamma is *serī*? The four establishments of mindfulness (satipaṭṭhāna), the four right exertions (sammappadhāna), the four bases for success (iddhipāda), the five faculties (indriya), the five powers (bala), the seven factors of awakening (bojjhaṅga), and the noble eightfold path (magga). This is the dhamma that is *serī*.
Which person is *serī*? One who is endowed with this *serī* dhamma — he is called a *serī* person.

**"A wise man, seeing freedom"** — a wise man, seeing, beholding, contemplating, examining the dhamma of freedom; thus, "a wise man, seeing freedom." **"He should wander alone, like a rhinoceros horn."** Therefore that Paccekasambuddha said:
As a deer unbound in the forest
goes where it wishes for pasture,
so a wise man, seeing freedom,
should wander alone, like a rhinoceros horn.
