[695] **"And also householders dwelling in their homes"** means: here some householders too — even when an elephant is being given them, even when a chariot, a field, a plot of land, money (hirañña), or gold is being given, even when a village, a city, or a country is being given — do not listen, do not lend ear, do not apply their minds to understanding; they are unheeding, not acting upon the word, behaving contrarily, and they turn their face elsewhere. Hence, "and also householders dwelling in their homes."
