[717] **"Clashing together, two upon the arm" (saṅghaṭṭayantāni duve bhujasmiṃ):** "arm" (bhuja) is a term for the hand (hattha). Just as two bracelets (dhuvarāni) on a single hand clash against each other, even so beings, through the power of craving (taṇhā), join together: they join in the animal realm (tiracchānayoni), they join in the realm of hungry ghosts (pittivisaya), they join in the world of humans, they join in the heavenly world; they link destination (gati) to destination, rebirth (upapatti) to rebirth, rebirth-linking (paṭisandhi) to rebirth-linking, existence (bhava) to existence, the round of rebirths (saṃsāra) to the round of rebirths, the round (vaṭṭa) to the round; they go on, dwell, move about, proceed, maintain themselves, sustain themselves, keep themselves going. Thus, "clashing together, two upon the arm." **"One should wander alone, like a rhinoceros horn" (eko care khaggavisāṇakappo).** Therefore that Paccekasambuddha said:
Having seen [bracelets] of gold, shining bright,
well finished by the goldsmith's son,
clashing together, two upon the arm,
one should wander alone, like a rhinoceros horn.
