[739] **"Having heeded the word of the Kinsman of the Sun (ādiccabandhu)"** — "Ādicca" is a designation for the sun. The sun is a Gotama by clan; the Paccekasambuddha too is a Gotama by clan. That Paccekasambuddha is thus a clan-relative, a kinsman by clan, of the sun; therefore the Paccekasambuddha is the Kinsman of the Sun.
"Having heeded the word of the Kinsman of the Sun" means: having heard, having listened to, having learned, having borne in mind, and having discerned the word, the utterance, the teaching, and the connected sequence (anusandhi) of the Kinsman of the Sun — thus, "having heeded the word of the Kinsman of the Sun, one should wander alone, like a rhinoceros horn." Therefore that Paccekasambuddha said:
It is impossible (aṭṭhāna) for one who delights in company
that he should touch even temporary liberation (sāmayikā vimutti).
Having heeded the word of the Kinsman of the Sun,
one should wander alone, like a rhinoceros horn.
