[761] *Son and wife, father and mother* (puttañca dāraṃ pitarañca mātaraṃ) — "Son" (putta): there are four kinds of sons: a son born of oneself (atraja), a son born in one's field (khettaja), a given son (dinnaka), and a pupil-son (antevāsika). "Wife" (dāra) is a term for spouses (bhariyā). "Father" (pitā): he who is the begetter. "Mother" (mātā): she who is the bearer. Thus: son and wife, father and mother.
