"With material basis (sāmisa) and without material basis (nirāmisa),
directed (paṇihita) and undirected (appaṇihita),
fettered (saññutta) and unfettered (visaññutta),
emerged (vuṭṭhita) and not emerged (avuṭṭhita):
eight are conditions for concentration (samādhi),
ten are the domains of knowledge (ñāṇa);
the eighteen change-of-lineage dhammas (gotrabhū-dhammas)
are conditions for the three liberations (vimokkha).
When these eighteen aspects have been made familiar through wisdom,
one is skilled in turning away and in emergence,
and does not waver amid the various views."
That is knowledge (ñāṇa) in the sense of its being known, and wisdom (paññā) in the sense of the act of understanding. Hence it is said: wisdom in emergence and turning away from the external is knowledge of change-of-lineage (gotrabhū-ñāṇa).
