[252] Where there is the turning away of perception (saññāvivaṭṭa), there is the turning away of the heart (cetovivaṭṭa); where there is the turning away of the heart, there is the turning away of perception. Where there are the turning away of perception and the turning away of the heart, there is the turning away of the mind (cittavivaṭṭa); where there is the turning away of the mind, there are the turning away of perception and the turning away of the heart. Where there are the turning away of perception, the turning away of the heart, and the turning away of the mind, there is the turning away through knowledge (ñāṇavivaṭṭa); where there is the turning away through knowledge, there are the turning away of perception, the turning away of the heart, and the turning away of the mind. Where there are the turning away of perception, the turning away of the heart, the turning away of the mind, and the turning away through knowledge, there is the turning away through liberation (vimokkhavivaṭṭa); where there is the turning away through liberation, there are the turning away of perception, the turning away of the heart, the turning away of the mind, and the turning away through knowledge. Where there are the turning away of perception, the turning away of the heart, the turning away of the mind, the turning away through knowledge, and the turning away through liberation, there is the turning away through truth (saccavivaṭṭa); where there is the turning away through truth, there are the turning away of perception, the turning away of the heart, the turning away of the mind, the turning away through knowledge, and the turning away through liberation.
That is knowledge (ñāṇa) in the sense of its being known, and wisdom in the sense of understanding. Therefore it is said: wisdom regarding the meaning of what is real (tathaṭṭha) is the knowledge of turning away through truth.
