[357] Three persons are failed in view (vipannadiṭṭhi); three persons are accomplished in view (sampannadiṭṭhi).
Which three persons are failed in view? A sectarian (titthiya), a disciple of a sectarian, and one who holds wrong view (micchādiṭṭhika) — these three persons are failed in view.
Which three persons are accomplished in view? A Tathāgata, a disciple of a Tathāgata, and one who holds right view (sammādiṭṭhika) — these three persons are accomplished in view.
The man who is angry, who bears grudges,
who is an evil denigrator,
failed in view, deceitful —
him one should know as an outcaste (vasala).
One free of anger, bearing no grudges,
without denigration, gone to purity,
accomplished in view, wise —
him one should know as a noble one (ariya).
