[491] When one attends (manasikaroto) to things as impermanent, which faculty (indriya) becomes predominant? Through the predominance of which faculty is one liberated by faith (saddhādhimutta)? When one attends to things as suffering (dukkha), which faculty becomes predominant? Through the predominance of which faculty is one a body-witness (kāyasakkhi)? When one attends to things as not-self (anattā), which faculty becomes predominant? Through the predominance of which faculty is one attained to view (diṭṭhippatta)?
When one attends to things as impermanent, the faith faculty (saddhindriya) becomes predominant; through the predominance of the faith faculty, one is liberated by faith. When one attends to things as suffering, the concentration faculty (samādhindriya) becomes predominant; through the predominance of the concentration faculty, one is a body-witness. When one attends to things as not-self, the wisdom faculty (paññindriya) becomes predominant; through the predominance of the wisdom faculty, one is attained to view.
