[722] Renunciation (nekkhamma) succeeds (ijjhati), thus it is a success (iddhi); it dispels (paṭiharati) sensual desire, thus it is a marvel (pāṭihāriya). "All those who possess that renunciation are of purified mind (citta) and of unclouded intention" — this is the marvel of revealing (ādesanāpāṭihāriya). "But that renunciation should be practised thus, developed thus, made much of thus; mindfulness in conformity with it should be established thus" — this is the marvel of instruction (anusāsanīpāṭihāriya).
Non-ill will succeeds, thus it is a success; it dispels ill will (byāpāda), thus it is a marvel. "All those who possess that non-ill will are of purified mind and of unclouded intention" — this is the marvel of revealing. "But that non-ill will should be practised thus, developed thus, made much of thus; mindfulness in conformity with it should be established thus" — this is the marvel of instruction.
The perception of light succeeds, thus it is a success; it dispels dullness and drowsiness (thīna-middha), thus it is a marvel. "All those who possess that perception of light are of purified mind and of unclouded intention" — this is the marvel of revealing. "But that perception of light should be practised thus, developed thus, made much of thus; mindfulness in conformity with it should be established thus" — this is the marvel of instruction.
Non-distraction succeeds, thus it is a success; it dispels restlessness (uddhacca), thus it is a marvel. "All those who possess that non-distraction are of purified mind and of unclouded intention" — this is the marvel of revealing. "But that non-distraction should be practised thus, developed thus, made much of thus; mindfulness in conformity with it should be established thus" — this is the marvel of instruction. …
The path of arahantship succeeds, thus it is a success; it dispels all defilements (kilesa), thus it is a marvel. "All those who possess that path of arahantship are of purified mind and of unclouded intention" — this is the marvel of revealing. "But that path of arahantship should be practised thus, developed thus, made much of thus; mindfulness in conformity with it should be established thus" — this is the marvel of instruction.
