[731] … Bhikkhus, that a bhikkhu, while contemplating any conditioned thing (saṅkhāra) as permanent, will become endowed with conformable acceptance (anulomikā khanti) — this is impossible; that one not endowed with conformable acceptance will enter upon the fixed course of rightness (sammattaniyāma) — this is impossible; that one not entering upon the fixed course of rightness will realize the fruition of stream-entry (sotāpattiphala), the fruition of once-returning (sakadāgāmiphala), the fruition of non-returning (anāgāmiphala), or the fruition of Arahantship (arahattaphala) — this is impossible. Bhikkhus, that a bhikkhu, while contemplating all conditioned things as impermanent, will become endowed with conformable acceptance — this is possible; that one endowed with conformable acceptance will enter upon the fixed course of rightness — this is possible; that one entering upon the fixed course of rightness will realize the fruition of stream-entry, the fruition of once-returning, the fruition of non-returning, or the fruition of Arahantship — this is possible.
