[122] As Vipassī was being born, there was a vast light,
and the earth quaked, together with its ocean and its mountains.
And the soothsayers declared: "A Buddha will arise in the world;
foremost of all beings, he will lift up the multitude."
Having heard the soothsayers, I performed the worship of the birth (jātipūjā);
there is no worship such as the worship of a birth.
Having gathered up¹ the wholesome, I made my own mind (citta) serene with confidence;
having performed the worship of the birth, I passed away there.
In whatever womb I am reborn — divinity or the human state —
I have surpassed² all beings: this is the fruit of the worship of the birth.
Wet-nurses attend upon me, compliant with the wish of my mind;
they³ are not able to provoke me: this is the fruit of the worship of the birth.
In the ninety-first aeon (kappa) from the present I performed that worship;
I know of no bad destination: this is the fruit of the worship of the birth.
In the third aeon from the present there were thirty-four lords of the people
named Supāricariya, wheel-turning monarchs (cakkavattī) of great might.
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā), and these eight liberations (vimokkha) as well,
the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized: the Buddha's teaching has been done.
Thus indeed did the Venerable Jātipūjaka Thera speak these verses.
The Apadāna of Jātipūjaka Thera is concluded.

Parivāra and Sumaṅgalya,⁴ Saraṇa, Āsana, Pupphika,
Citapūjī, Buddhasaññī, Magga, Upaṭṭhāna, together with Jāti —
ninety verses have been spoken, reckoned by the discerning.
