[141] At that time I was the king of beasts, a truly well-born maned lion (kesarī);
searching through a mountain fastness, I saw the Leader of the World.
"This Great Hero indeed brings the great multitude to quenching;
suppose, then, I were to attend upon this God of Gods, this Bull of Men."
Having broken off a branch of the sāla tree, I brought the flower together with its tip;
and having approached the Fully Awakened One, I gave that supreme flower.
Because of the flower I offered up in the ninety-first aeon from now,
I know of no bad destination (duggati): this is the fruit of the gift of a flower.
And in the ninth aeon from now there were three kings bearing the name Virocana,
universal monarchs (cakkavatti) of great power.
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā), and also these eight liberations (vimokkha),
and the six superknowledges (abhiññā) have been realized; the Buddha's teaching (sāsana) has been fulfilled.
Thus indeed did the Venerable Sāladāyaka the Elder speak these verses.
