Having crossed over the little river, the One with Vision (cakkhumā) went to the forest;
I saw him, the Fully Enlightened One (sambuddha) Siddhattha, endowed with excellent marks.
Taking a hoe and basket, I made that path even;
having paid homage to the Teacher, I brought serene confidence to my own mind (citta).
In the ninety-fourth aeon from now, the deed that I did then —
I know of no bad destination (duggati): this is the fruit of the gift of a path.
In the fifty-seventh aeon I was one lord of the people,
Suppabuddha by name, a leader, a sovereign of men.
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā), and also these eight liberations (vimokkha),
the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized; the Buddha's teaching has been fulfilled.
Thus indeed the Venerable Elder Maggadāyaka spoke these verses.
