In the past, amid an assembly of seers (isi), I was a mātaṅga elephant;
out of confidence (pasāda) in the great seers (mahesī), I strewed lotus filaments.²
In the supreme solitary victors (paccekajina), who had shaken off lust (rāga), the steadfast ones (tādī) —
having brought my mind (citta) to confidence in them, I rejoiced in heaven (sagga) for an eon (kappa).
It was in the ninety-first eon from now that I then strewed those filaments;
I know of no bad destination (duggati): this is the fruit of homage to the Buddha (buddhapūjā).
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā), and these eight liberations (vimokkha) as well,
the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized; the Buddha's teaching (sāsana) has been fulfilled.

Thus indeed the Venerable Elder (thera) Padumakesariya spoke these verses.
