[330] All the people, having gathered together, perform a great offering (mahāpūjā)
to the Blessed One Vessabhū, the eldest of the world, the steadfast one (tādī).
Having fashioned a lump of stucco (sudhā), I then set up
a chaplet (āveḷa) of jasmine flowers (sumanā) before the lion throne (sīhāsana).
All the people, having gathered together, gaze upon that supreme flower:
"By whom has this flower been offered to the supreme Buddha, the steadfast one?"
Through that serene confidence of mind (cittappasāda) I was reborn in Nimmāna [the realm of the Nimmānaratī gods];
I experience¹ my own deed (kamma), well done by myself in the past.
Into whatever womb I am reborn, whether to the state of a god or of a human,
I am dear to all: this is the fruit of the offering of flowers (pupphapūjā).
I do not recall [any offense] by body, by speech, or by mind
toward the restrained, toward the ascetics (tapassī); [only] service done and rendered by me.
Through that good conduct (sucarita) and through the aspirations (paṇidhi) of my mind,
I am honored by all: this is the fruit of not abusing (anakkosa).
In the thirty-first eon (kappa) from now I offered that flower in worship;
[since then] I know of no bad destination (duggati): this is the fruit of the offering to the Buddha (buddhapūjā).
In the eleventh eon from now there was a khattiya [named] Sahassāra,
endowed with the seven treasures, a wheel-turning monarch (cakkavatti) of great might.
The four analytical knowledges (paṭisambhidā), and these eight liberations (vimokkha) as well,
and the six direct knowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized; the Buddha's teaching (sāsana) has been fulfilled.
¹ Ma. (Burmese edition) reads anubhosiṃ ("I experienced").
Thus indeed the Venerable Sumanāveḷiya the Elder spoke these verses.
The Apadāna of Sumanāveḷiya the Elder is concluded.
