There was a festival of the great Bodhi tree of the Blessed One Vipassī;
having entered upon the going forth (pabbajjā), I approached it at that time.
Taking safflower water,¹ I sprinkled it upon the Bodhi tree:
"Freed himself, he will free us; quenched himself, he will bring us to quenching."
In the ninety-first aeon from now, since I sprinkled the Bodhi tree,
I know of no bad destination (duggati) — this is the fruit of sprinkling the Bodhi.²

In the thirty-third aeon, as it was proceeding, there were these eight lords of the people,
wheel-turning monarchs (cakkavatti) named Udakāsecana.
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā), and also these eight liberations (vimokkha),
and the six superknowledges (abhiññā) have been realized; the Buddha's teaching has been carried out.
Thus indeed the Venerable Bodhisiñcaka Thera spoke these verses.
