[107] Not far from the Himavant is a mountain named Accala; the Buddha named Sudassana was dwelling in the midst of the mountains. Taking a flower of the Himavant, I went up into the sky; there I saw the Fully Awakened One, who had crossed the flood (ogha), free of taints (āsava). Taking a kuṭaja flower and raising it upon my head, I then offered it to the Buddha, the Self-Awakened One (Sayambhū), the Great Seer (mahesi). It was in the thirty-first aeon from the present that I offered that flower in worship; I know of no bad destination (duggati): this is the fruit of worship of the Buddha (buddhapūjā). My defilements (kilesa) have been burned away; all existences (bhava) have been rooted out; like an elephant that has burst its bonds, I dwell free of taints. Welcome indeed was my coming into the presence of my Buddha: the three true knowledges (vijjā) have been attained; the Buddha's teaching has been fulfilled. The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā), and also these eight liberations (vimokkha), and the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized; the Buddha's teaching has been fulfilled. Thus indeed did the Venerable Elder Kuṭajapupphiya speak these verses. The Apadāna of the Elder Kuṭajapupphiya is concluded. [Variant readings noted in the Siam edition: (1) for "Accala": Burmese ed. "Vasala," European (PTS) ed. "Cāvala"; (2) for "vasanto": Burmese and European eds. "vasate"; (3) for "sire katvāna 'han tadā": Burmese ed.
