[5] In the city of Bandhumatī I dwelt in the royal park;
the Leader of the World sat down near my hermitage.
Taking a shoot of the nāga tree, I offered it up to the Buddha;
with a confident mind, glad at heart, I paid homage to the Well-Gone One (Sugata).
In the ninety-first aeon (kappa) from now, since I honored him with that shoot,
I know of no bad destination (duggati): this is the fruit of homage to the Buddha.
My defilements (kilesa) have been burnt away; all existences (bhava) have been utterly rooted out;
like an elephant that has burst its bonds, I dwell without taints (āsava).
Welcome indeed was my coming into the presence of my Buddha;
the three true knowledges (vijjā) have been attained; the Buddha's teaching has been done.
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā), and these eight liberations (vimokkha) as well,
and the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized; the Buddha's teaching has been done.
Thus indeed the Venerable Elder Nāgapallavaka spoke these verses.
