[616] Which is that form (rūpa) that is internal, not the sound element (saddadhātu) … not the odour element (gandhadhātu) … not the taste element (rasadhātu) … not the tangible element (phoṭṭhabbadhātu)? The eye base (cakkhāyatana) … the body base (kāyāyatana) — this is that form that is internal, not the tangible element. Which is that form that is external, the tangible element? The tangible base (phoṭṭhabbāyatana) — this is that form that is external, the tangible element. Which is that form that is external, not the tangible element? The form base (rūpāyatana) … edible nutriment (kabaḷīkāro āhāro) — this is that form that is external, not the tangible element.
