[707] Which phenomena (dhammā) are cognizable by something (kenaci viññeyyā) and not cognizable by something [else] (kenaci na viññeyyā)?
Those phenomena that are cognizable by the eye (cakkhuviññeyyā) are not cognizable by the ear (sotaviññeyyā); and conversely, those phenomena that are cognizable by the ear are not cognizable by the eye. Those phenomena that are cognizable by the eye are not cognizable by the nose (ghānaviññeyyā); and conversely, those phenomena that are cognizable by the nose are not cognizable by the eye. Those phenomena that are cognizable by the eye are not cognizable by the tongue (jivhāviññeyyā); and conversely, those phenomena that are cognizable by the tongue are not cognizable by the eye. Those phenomena that are cognizable by the eye are not cognizable by the body (kāyaviññeyyā); and conversely, those phenomena that are cognizable by the body are not cognizable by the eye.
