[748] Which phenomena (dhammā) are hindrances (nīvaraṇa)? Six hindrances: the hindrance of sensual desire (kāmacchanda-nīvaraṇa), the hindrance of ill will (byāpāda-nīvaraṇa), the hindrance of dullness and drowsiness (thīnamiddha-nīvaraṇa), the hindrance of restlessness and remorse (uddhaccakukkucca-nīvaraṇa), the hindrance of doubt (vicikicchā-nīvaraṇa), the hindrance of ignorance (avijjā-nīvaraṇa).
