[817] Therein, what is personality-view (sakkāyadiṭṭhi)?
Here an unlearned ordinary person (puthujjana) — one who does not see the noble ones (ariya), unskilled in the Dhamma of the noble ones, undisciplined in the Dhamma of the noble ones; who does not see good men (sappurisa), unskilled in the Dhamma of good men, undisciplined in the Dhamma of good men — regards form (rūpa) as self (attā), or self as possessing form, or form as in self, or self as in form; feeling (vedanā) …; perception (saññā) …; volitional formations (saṅkhārā) …; he regards consciousness (viññāṇa) as self, or self as possessing consciousness, or consciousness as in self, or self as in consciousness. Whatever view (diṭṭhi) of such a kind — the resort to views … the perverted grasp: this is called personality-view.
